The Park University women's soccer team opened up 2025 with an impressive performance against University of Saint Mary with a 4-nil win on the road in Leavenworth, Kan. on Saturday evening.
The Pirates wasted no time in the season opener, scoring first against the Spires in the 16th minute of the first half.
Patrycia Kozak got her first goal of the season to give Park the lead.
Leticia Quadros earned her first assist of the season.
The defense for Park swarmed Saint Mary and the Spires only managed one shot in the first half. Park had seven shots with three on goal before the break.
Park's second half adjustments only put fuel to the fire offensively, scoring three more goals before time ran out.
Rand Taleb made quick work in the opening minutes of the second half in the final third scoring in unassisted goal to extend the lead 2-nil.
Park stayed on the offensive and this time,
Sophia Pope, making her Park debut, scored the match's third goal in the 58 minute.
Altogether, Park had nine shots in the second half with five on goal, while the spires had three shots and the second period with the senior
Frankie Williams earning one save.
Taleb Came back around in the 80th minute for the brace, her second unassisted goal of the evening.
Park had plenty of opportunities on Saint Mary's side of the pitch with six corner kicks in the first half and another five in the second. Meanwhile, the spires only had two corner kicks for the match.
The Pirates will take on Hastings College today in their home opener at Julian Field at approximately 5:15pm.
