The No. 5 seeded Park University men's soccer program was in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Tuesday for the start of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship Tournament and the No. 4 seeded William Penn Statesmen bested Park, 3-nil.
This was the third consecutive Heart Quarterfinal the Pirates have appeared in, but the Pirates unfortunately had their season end at 7-9-2 overall. The Statesmen move on to face No. 1 seeded Baker University in the semis and bump up to 10-4-4 on the year.
These teams just met the week prior and the Statesmen edged Park in a close 2-1 game.
William Penn was ready out of the gate in this second 2025 meeting and just six minutes into the contest got their first goal to make it 1-nil.
In the first half, the Pirates managed one shot on goal in just two shots, while William Penn took 12 with seven shots on goal.
In fact, all the goals for the game came in the first half, as the Statesmen scored methodically in the 22nd and the 29th minutes.
Park got five shots off in the second half with two on goal, but William Penn owned time of possession by and large with 20 shots for the game to Park's seven.
Corner kicks evened out be the final horn, five for William Penn and four for Park.
There were four yellow cards by William Penn on the game and three for the Pirates with an additional post-game red card, so Park never played a player down.
Overall, Park had 47 goals on the season with only allowing 22.
