Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Park Puts 7 Goals on the Board in the First Half, Defeating William Penn 7-1

The Park University women's soccer team was in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Tuesday night. The cold and wet conditions did not slow down the Pirates one bit, as they score seven goals in the first half for the 7-1 win over William Penn University.

The Pirates are now 8-4-3 on teh year with a 6-3-3 Heart of America Atheletic Conference record, while William Penn stumbles to 2-13-1 with a 1-11-0 Heart record. The Pirates in the Heart standings cannot fall below No. 5, but still have have an opportunity to bump up to No. 4 with a win over Mount Mercy and a Benedictine loss to William Woods.

It had not been since 2017 in Park's 12-0 win against Hannibal-LaGrange in American Midwest Conference play that Park scored seven goals in a single half.

A large portion of Park's success came from attacking forward, Patrycia Kozak who scored four goals in the game for the second time this season, previously in the win against Baker. Kozak scored just four minutes into the game on an assist from Maddy Farris and then again 10 minutes later to give Park a 2-0 lead.

Another senior, Emma Le put up the third goal of the game in the 18th minute. The Pirates stayed effective offensively with a Gina Tassotti goal in the 25th minute, 4-nil.

Kozak then scored her 18th and 19th goals of the season in the 31st and 33rd to help Park to a 6-0 lead. She is now 2nd in the Heart in goals scored and she has 31 goals in her Park career.

Sophia Pope then tacked on the final Park goal of the game in the 43rd minute, right before the halftime horn.

Impressively, the Pirates scored seven goals on 12 shots in the first half, while the Statesmen were held to only three shots. Park altogether had nine shots on goal in the half.

Frankie Williams got two saves in the first half and finished with four saves for the game with one goal against. Delaney Duke finished things out for Park in the last 15 minutes of play.

The second half was a more reserved for Park with only one shot, compared to seven for the Statesmen.

William Penn scored in the 73rd minute, but the game was pretty much decided at 7-1.

Park will be back at Julian Field for the final regular season game on senior day, Saturday, November 1 against Mount Mercy at 12pm. WATCH
