The Park University women's volleyball program gave an outstanding effort against No. 19 Grand View University in Breckon Sports Center going deep in the first two sets, winning the next two, but falling in the final frame; 26-28, 29-31, 25-19, 25-13, 9-15.
Grand View came into the contest at 22-1 on the season with a 11-0 Heart of America Athletic Conference record.
Grand view impressed with 20 kills and 19 kills in the opening sets, but the Pirates in the long run had the better hitting percentage at .251 to .233.
The Vikings had three more blocks than the Pirates, but 11 service winners for Park was a huge lift in the match.
It could have been a turning point if a couple plays went the other way for the Pirates in the first two sets. At the end of set two, the Pirates had Grand View in set point three separate times before the Vikings overcame Park, 31-29.
A 5-0 start in set four, grew to an 11-3 lead. The Pirates hit .308 on eight kills and zero errors on their way to a 25-13 win.
With a lot of momentum on Park's side, the Vikings answered the call when they needed it. Down 9-8, the Vikings went on an inconceivable 7-0 run to win, 15-9.

Daniela Gomez led Park with 15 kills each, while
Indi Zetic was in the mix with 14 kills.
Gomez was second in digs with 18, her teammate
Jullia Alvarez was the dig leader at 23.
Three more double-doubles were secured by Park, including Rodriguez with 10 digs, Zetic with 14 digs, and
Silvia Albani with 52 assists and 16 digs.
Albani led Park with five service aces, while Alvarez was next in line with three service winners.
