Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

No. 2 Park Win Six Straight, Defeating Clarke in Straight Sets

The No. 2 nationally ranked Park University men's volleyball program played another quality match against Clarke University on Saturday in Breckon Sports Center for the sweep, 25-13, 25-21, 25-18.

Park moves to 11-1 on the year and have a good foothold in Heart of America Athletic Conference play at 3-0 so far. Clarke's record is respectable overall at 4-6, but are now 1-2 in Heart play.

This extends the Pirates' win streak to six games.

The Pirates hit over .320 in each set on Saturday and finished at .342 for the match.

Joao Infante got Park warmed up in set one with two consecutive kills in the 3-0 run to begin the match. Pretty soon the Pirates throttled forward to 8-3 and never looked back in their biggest set win of the day at 25-13. Infante closed out set one with five kills.

Clarke responded well in set two and led 6-3 at the start. Park made some adjustments and went on a 4-0 run to regain the lead, 7-6. Nicolas Tenius, Joao Friedrich, and Mihailo Ivanovic each had kills in that span, plus Ivanovic and Eduardo Sabi doubled up for a block in that run as well. Clarke stayed on the heels of Park with seven ties the remainder of the set with two other lead changes, before the Pirates claimed the last three points for a 25-21 win.

It was another close start to set three, but Park gained momentum with a 4-0 run to claim a six-point lead, 12-6. Friedrich got into the mix with two kills during that time. The Pirates held their ground and led by as much as 17-9 in the set, until finally landing at 25-18 for the sweep. Park benefited from six Pride service errors in set three, while Friedrich concocted a service ace of his own.
It was a well balanced offensive attack for Park, nine kills by Friedrich and seven by Infante. Leonardo Maldonado, Alessandro Tolin, and Ivanovic also worked their magic with six kills apiece.
Joao Bonanoni reached 10 digs for the match, while Maldonado and Sabi were at seven digs for the match.

Sabi came through again for Park with 32 assists in the match.

Park prepares for their next match in Breckon Sports Center on Tuesday, February 27 against University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy. WATCH
