The Park University men's soccer program continue to play good soccer despite a 1-nil loss to the No. 7 nationally ranked Missouri Valley College Vikings on the road in Marshall, Mo. on Saturday.
The Pirates are sitting at 4
th in the toughest conference in the NAIA with a 4-3-1 Heart of America Athletic Conference record and a 7-3-2 season record. The Vikings are the No. 1 team in the conference at a undefeated 7-0-1 in Heart play and 11-1-2 on the year.
The Vikings did not waste time with a quick goal by Sam Green within the first five minutes of play and an assist coming from Luka Perendija.
The Pirates were getting their fair share of shots off on the Vikings with two by
Francesco Esteban at '15 and '17, while two shots on goal came by
Bradyn McIntyre at '19 and the other by
Julian Campos at '22.
Nonetheless, the game stayed at a standstill, but a big moment was a red card given to
Diego Quintana, forcing Park to play a man down the remainder of the contest.
Park had more shots and shots on goal than the Vikings at five and three, while the Vikings had two shots for the half.
The score stayed the same in the second half, as
Felipe Ramos Peralta dug his heels in with three saves and finished with four total for the game.
The Pirates were unable to get a shot off in the second half while playing with one less player. The Vikings took advantage with 10 second half shots with three on goal.
Besides Quintana's yellow and red, on the second yellow card, the Pirates also had four other yellow cards in the game, while two yellow cards were issued to the Vikings.
The Pirates will matchup with No. 21 MidAmerica Nazarene University on Tuesday, October 22 for a Breast Cancer Awareness game at 1:30pm on Julian Field.
