Park and Missouri Valley Split to Turn the Page on 2023

Park University's softball program went toe-to-toe with Missouri Valley College on Saturday in Marshall, Mo. and split with the Vikings, 8-6 and 1-6.

Park close out the regular season at 21-22 and are 10-16 in the Heart, while the Vikings are just over .500 on the season at 24-22 and stand even in the Heart at 13-13.

GAME 1 BOX SCORE | 8-6

Park came back down three runs after the third inning for an 8-6 win over the Vikings. Adrianna Solary went a complete game and limited the Vikings to only a max of two runs in a single inning in the game. It was a messy game for both teams as Park had three errors in the field, while the Vikings had 10 errors.

In the fourth inning, three runs scored on one error by the leftfield by the Vikings to tie the game at 3-3.

Another three unearned runs scored in the top of the fifth inning for Park to lead 6-3.

The Vikings crept back in at 6-5 after the sixth, but a clutch double by Kali Day scored one run and then Dani Klein singled to put Park on top 8-5.

The Pirates fended off the Vikings in the bottom of the seventh with only one run scoring for the 8-6 win.

GAME 2 BOX SCORE | 1-6

Five errors hurt Park in game two and were only able to score one run even though the Vikings had four errors themselves.

Shelby Sanders brought in Macee Austin with a single in the top of the first for the game's first run.

Lauren Fiene pitched three scoreless innings to start the game and went six strong innings.

In the fourth inning the Vikings answered with a run to tie, but then overtook Park with five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Three of those runs were unearned as four hits and five errors brought in five runs.

Six different Pirates had a hit in game two, but Missouri Valley's Paige Radermann was able to keep Park off the scoreboard for the last six innings with six strikeouts for the win, 6-1.
