Park University's No. 4 nationally ranked men's volleyball program has one member named a 2023 NAIA First Team All-American, announced Tuesday by the national office.
Besides conference honors throughout his three-year career, including being this year's Heart Player and Attacker of the Year, Friedrich has been one of the top performers in the NAIA.
Last season, NAIA named him NAIA All-American Honorable Mention and he has been an AVCA NAIA All-American all three seasons.
This year he had 320 kills and ranked No. 11 in the NAIA in kills per set with 4.00. He also notably led the nation in service aces per set for a grand total of 63 service aces. It is a big spike in ace numbers for the junior and to put it in perspective, Friedrich had two more service aces this season than he did in his previous two seasons combined. 63 service aces also places him tied at No. 2 in Park's all-time records.
He's had at least 100 digs in each of his seasons at Park as well and finished with an even 100 in 2023. He demonstrated well-rounded play on the front line as well with 49 total blocks this year.
His career at Park has been nothing short of excellent with 934 kills. Along the way to his career offensive numbers, he has 18 matches in 2023 with double-digit kills and ended the season with five straight matches with at least 11 kills.
