The Park University women's soccer program had a tough draw in the 2023 Heart of America Athletic Conference Quarterfinals against the No. 4 Benedictine College Ravens in Atchison, Kan. on Saturday. The Ravens took advantage of three first half goals for the win, 3-1.
Park finishes 2023 with it's best record since joining the Heart in 2023 at 9-6-1 and hold at 6-5 in conference play while the Ravens move up to 13-3-4 on the season.
The Pirates got 11 shots off for the game, five in the first half and six in the second half. The home team however was able to shoot 10 shots in the first half alone with 23 for the match.
Despite the difference in shots, the shots on goals were much closer. Park had eight shots on goal with five coming from 2023 Heart First Team All-Conference performer
Patrycia Kozak. Benedictine had 10 shots on goal on the other hand.
The scoring began early in the first half with a goal from Benedictine's Riley Degner off the pass from Christine Zridarsic at 9:16.
Two more goals came in for the Ravens in the first half at the 21
st and 34
th minute marks. Zridarsic would continue to have an exceptional game with the next two goals to pair well with her assist. Her teammates Emily Shepherd and Jenna Wilken were credited with the other two assists.
Out of halftime, the Pirates made some adjustments and

Lilli Porsch to get the Pirates on the board with just 37 seconds elapsed in the second half.
It was zeros on the board the rest of the way, as
Felicitas Mueller, a 2023 Heart Second Team All-Conference member, and the Park defense stopped the Ravens with five saves in the second half. Â
With time running down, the Ravens were able to clinch their spot in the Heart Tournament Semifinals after defeating Park, 3-1.
