The Park University men's soccer program were tested on the road against Clarke University on Saturday evening in Dubuque, Iowa, as the Pride shutout Park 3-nil.
Park is back to a .500 record on the season at 4-4-3 and dropped a game back of .500 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference at 2-3-3. The Pride are now 6
th in the Heart at 3-3-2 and are 6-3-4 on the year.
Park found themselves down at halftime 2-nil after the Pride got out to an early first half lead. Clarke scored in the 17
th minute on a goal from Enrique Horna with an assist coming from Jose Gomez. They followed that up in the 31
st minute by Hector Medrano's unassisted goal.
Only two shots were sent off by the Pirates in the first half with six from the Pride.
More shots came in for both teams in half two, eight for Park and 13 for Clarke.
Despite three shots on goal for Park in the second half nothing got by Clarke's keeper Fernando Contreras.
The Pride got an additional insurance goal in the 78
th minute from Nearco Zamorano and an assist came from Kevin Klos.
Park will play at home on Saturday, October 21 against Central Methodist University at 2:30pm at Julian Field.
