The Park University baseball team was in Cleburne and Waxahachie, Texas on Sunday and Monday, taking on Nelson University. The series was scheduled for four games, but due to an 11-inning game on Sunday, the series was stopped at three games.
The Pirates came up short in all three contests, 10-3, 17-7, and 4-3. Park moves to 2-5 on the season, while the Lions are off to a good start at 11-3.

Nelson got off to an early lead in game one, 3-0 through the first two innings. Mark Elliot got the Pirates on the board in the top of the third in the Cleburne Railroaders' stadium with an RBI single.
Wiljerry Santiago followed that up with a ground out to bring in Jan Marrero and it was a 3-2 game.
Park had another good answer in the top of the 5th to come back within a run, but six more runs in the following 5th and 6th innings for Nelson sealed the game, 10-3. Both teams had nine hits in the game with Elliot and Marrero each having multi-hit games.
Jean Paul Ramos would go four innings and strike out five Lions. Four earned runs would score though on Ramos.
Jean Rodriguez,
Joseph Cook, and
Alex Foster came into the game to relieve. Only a combined four hits would be allowed, but an additional eight walks.

By the end of the third inning in game two, Nelson had established a considerable lead, 13-1. The Pirates' fourth inning was a highlight, which included wn
Evan Johnson walk for an RBI and then a base-clearing triple by Elliot to make it 13-5.
Fabian Morales got the start on the hill, lasting 2.1 innings with 12 runs coming across to score.
Michael Uhler,
Anthony Padron,
Yariel Colon, and
Mason Danner patched up the rest of the remaining innings. Colon in his inning had the only clean sheet going three up and three down, all on strikeouts.
Game three had the most parody and the relatively low-scoring affair was 4-3 through 11 innings.
Nelson got a 1-0 lead in the fourth, but
Carlos Roses had a quality start for the Pirates with six innings of work, striking out six. He left the game with only two runs allowed and after a run in the fourth, fifth, and sixth; the Pirates had the lead when their starter was relieved for the bottom of the seventh.
Jarrett Hamlett gave Park its first run with a sacrifice fly to left field for the 1-1.
Edward Gonzalez doubled in the fifth to tie the game a second time 2-2, while Marrero's sacrifice fly gave the Pirates their first lead fo the series in the top of the sixth.
A run would score on
Anthony Fincher in the seventh, opening up the extra-inning ball game. Fincher was able to keep a Lion on second base after a line out and strikeout.
Park had to dig deep in the bullpen, but was able to go three scoreless innings behind
Colin Zancanella and
Yariel Colon. The 11th sided with the Lions though, as a lead-off double led to an RBI single for the walk-off win, 4-3.
The Pirates have added a series with Hesston College to the schedule and will play their home opener at Comfort Field on Saturday, February 28 at noon.
